Birth Parent Letter

HEY!!
Thank you for considering adoption. Kent and I both realize nothing about this process is easy or taken lightly. Adoption to us, means so much hope and love. We are so excited to meet you guys and share this incredible experience together. We hope that you will be there along with us for the entire journey. We want you guys to always be an active part of all of our lives.
My name is Janelle and I am 25. I was born in California and lived there until I was 12, then we moved to Texas until I graduated high school. My parents then moved to Colorado and I moved to Utah to go to college. I met the love of my life while living down in Provo attending UVU. I currently work full time, it is with a school district, so I actually get the summer off and all the fun holidays and breaks.
My husband’s name is Kent. I hope that I can put into words without being too cheesy and really portray how amazing he is; because he is pretty dang close to perfect. I have honestly never met someone that was so devoted to his family. We are his world and he would do anything for us. He is honest, loyal, self-less, and bases everything he does around serving others. He never complains and always has a smile. I am so lucky to have a husband like him. He is tall, dark and handsome. We are so in love and it honestly grows every day.
Kent speaking: I am 30. I was born in Utah and have lived here for most of my life all except for a summer in California and a summer in North Carolina. I served a mission in the Philippines which was awesome. I love living here with the mountains so close to us.
Now it is my turn to brag about Janelle. I really truly don’t have any idea where I would be without her; she is my world. She treats me so well and I don’t think that I deserve it. I am so glad that she chose me. She loves our boy so much and wants to teach him all of the right things. She is in the young women’s group in our ward and all of the girls really look up to her. This is because she listens to them and is there for them in all that they do. I honestly cannot describe in words how much I love her.
The story of how we met is kind of funny. I was out of town in Texas when some of my best friends were just driving around and saw a red BMW with a cute guy driving. They start honking and waving trying to get his attention. He sees them and decides to pull over and talk to them. He gives his number to my friend and later that week they went on a date. Then I got back to Utah and missed my friends so much so we all decided to go out to dinner. We headed to Red Robin. We got there and decided we were lame for only us girls going out to dinner; we wanted some guys to come hang out too. Being typical girls, we start going through our numbers when my friend remembered her new guy she met on the road and we all decided to have her call him and invite some of his friends to come along too. Kent was one of the friends he brought. For me, it was love at first sight. I became instantly obsessed and not much has changed over the past 6 years. We hung as a group for a couple weeks and Kent finally asked for my number. Don’t worry; I gave him my ex-boyfriend’s number!! What was I thinking, clearly, I wasn’t. He was pretty mad and luckily it didn’t turn him off too much. We dated for just around a year before Kent popped the question. We were engaged for 6 weeks (I know, fast) and we were married in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple, September 29, 2007. One year later I went into labor with our son. Mason was born September 30, 2008. This is when our life really started.
Mason is a fireball, dare devil, fun, love-bug and a comedian. He is honestly an amazing little guy. I have never seen a kid with such ambition for life. He has so much energy and puts none of it to waste. He is always on the move. Everyone always jokes that Mason doesn’t know how to walk, only run. He is almost all rough and tumbles except for when he turns into my love-bug. He will completely melt your heart. He has a heart of gold like his dad. He always talks about how we are going to adopt 10 brothers and sisters. He is so silly and apparently wants a large family. We hope that we can give that to him one day.
As a family our favorite vacations to go on are either around the mountains or the water. We are so lucky that both grandparents have boats. Janelle’s side of the family vacations are always based around the lake and Kent’s side of the family is almost always camping. We always have a blast together and have such good relationships with everyone. Our favorite trip that we have gone on together was a Cruise. We both love the ocean and the beach. We took Mason to San Diego when he was 2. It was his first time to see the ocean. We love spending time together and these are just a few of the ways we like to do it.
We really appreciate the time that you have spent reading our letter. We look forward to meeting you in person and getting to know one another. Thanks again!

Love, Kent, Janelle and Mason
